Imagine Your Future Competition

What do you imagine your future to look like? What will your dream career be? Answer these questions creatively through an essay or a video and you could win…


  • Choose which type of project that you will create (written essay or video)
  • Creatively tell us how you envision your future. Make sure thoroughly answer the following three questions, what your career will be, how you will achieve this (positions that will lead you to this career, education you will complete, training that you will undergo, other information about this career.) and why it is your dream career.


  • 1,000 word essay
  • Fill out the entry form and submit with the project
  • Submit essay in a .pdf or word document format
  • Please do not include last name on the essay (first name, school, and grade only)


  • 2-4 minute video
  • Fill out the entry form and submit with the project
  • Upload your video to YouTube
  • Include the link to your video in your entry form.
  • Please do not include any personal information in the video (first name, school, and grade only)


  • Projects will be judged by category (Video, Written Essay) and by grade level:
  • Grade Level divisions
  • Middle School – Grades 6-8
  • High School – Grades 9-12
  • Judges will score projects based on:
  • Creativity
  • Proven knowledge of the career
  • Explanation of the pathway to obtaining the career
  • Ability to demonstrate research was done on the future career


There will be 1 winner for each grade level division: Winners will receive a Job shadow in their dream career and invitation to the Imagine Career Week Kick-Off Breakfast.  Winners will also receive a $100 gift card.

  4. By submitting your project to the competition, you give Allegheny Intermediate Unit & Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board permission to post on the Imagine Career Week website and use as a marketing piece for future competitions.
